The short version:

  • Volufiline is a decade-old plumping ingredient from Sederma, part of Croda. TikTok made it popular this spring, and Croda repositioned it for facial volume over the summer, a concern it links partly to GLP-1 weight-loss drugs.

  • On Amazon, searches containing "volufiline" went from about 176,000 a month in October 2025 to about 580,000 in September 2026.

  • Searches that name a brand grew about ten times, and four brands took about 62% of Amazon sales in the last 30 days. None of them speaks to GLP-1 users on its listing.

When an ingredient takes off, shoppers usually search for the ingredient first and a brand later. Volufiline is in that shift right now. A year ago, about nine in ten Amazon searches for it named no brand. Today it is closer to seven in ten, and most of the sales already go to four names.

TikTok found it first, and Croda followed

Volufiline is made by Sederma, part of Croda, a British specialty chemicals company founded in 1925 and listed on the FTSE 100, with about £1.7 billion in sales in 2025. Croda sells ingredients to brands and does not sell to shoppers.

The ingredient is more than a decade old. By May 2026, TikTok creators were calling it filler in a bottle, and in June Cosmopolitan called it TikTok's new "It" skincare ingredient, as Croda later noted. Amazon searches for the single word "volufiline" jumped in mid-May and again in mid-July.

Croda caught up in its half-year results on 28 July, saying it had repositioned Volufiline for loss of volume in the face. On its results call, Croda said requests from brands to use its ingredient trademarks had tripled in a year, and that The Ordinary had adopted the Volufiline name for one of its products. Croda followed with a release on 7 August, and Happi covered the relaunch days later.

Volufiline is a plant extract, from the root of Anemarrhena asphodeloides, that brands put in balms, sticks and serums. It is marketed for adding visible volume to skin without a needle.

Sized for GLP-1 consumers

Croda links the new interest in facial volume partly to GLP-1 weight-loss drugs such as Ozempic. When weight comes off quickly, the face can lose fullness faster than skin can adjust, which is what people mean by "Ozempic face". The group this could reach is large: in a KFF poll from late 2025, about one in eight US adults said they were taking a GLP-1 drug. Brands have started to speak to them directly. IMAGE Skincare sells a face serum named for GLP-1 users, though it does not use Volufiline.

On Amazon, shoppers do not search that way yet. The biggest searches that pair GLP-1 with skin, such as "glp skin tightening," get only dozens a month, against about 580,000 for Volufiline. None of the listings that rank for "volufiline" mention GLP-1 in their titles. Whoever is buying for that reason is searching for the ingredient, and no Volufiline brand on Amazon has claimed the connection.

TikTok is where shoppers met it

On TikTok Shop, products with Volufiline in the name sold about $11.8 million between May 2025 and April 2026. Four brands account for nearly all of it.

TikTok Shop sales of products naming Volufiline, May 2025 to April 2026: Medicube $6.1 million, Sungboon Editor $2.2 million, The Ordinary $1.5 million, VT Cosmetics $1.4 million, 96% of about $11.8 million between them.

Medicube, Sungboon Editor and VT are Korean. The Ordinary is owned by Estée Lauder.

On Amazon, the brand names are catching up

On Amazon, searches containing "volufiline" averaged about 580,000 a month in September 2026, up from about 176,000 a year earlier. The single word "volufiline" is still most of it, at about 340,000 a month, up from 131,000.

Amazon US monthly searches containing volufiline. October 2025: about 176,000, of which 159,000 named no brand and 17,000 named a brand. September 2026: about 576,000, of which 402,000 named no brand and 174,000 named a brand. Brand-named searches grew about 10 times; searches naming no brand grew about 2.5 times.

The faster growth is in searches that name a brand: "medicube volufiline stick," "the ordinary volufiline," "dalba volufiline grinding cream," "fem collagen plump & repair volufiline balm." Those went from about 17,000 a month to 174,000. A year ago, about nine in ten searches named no brand. Now it is about seven in ten.

Sales show the same thing. In the last 30 days, products naming Volufiline sold about $2.3 million on Amazon, and four brands took about 62% of it.

Share of Amazon US sales of products naming Volufiline, 30 days to early October 2026, about $2.3 million in total: Sungboon Editor 21%, d'Alba 16%, The Ordinary 16%, Medicube 10%, Vult 7%, everyone else 31%.

Sungboon Editor's Deep Collagen Serum is the single biggest product, at about $470,000 in 30 days. Three of the four leaders are Korean, and The Ordinary belongs to Estée Lauder. No independent US brand is in the top four.

What it means

For brands. In Satin Leaf's view, the window is narrowing but not closed. Seven in ten searches still name no brand, so a brand with a Volufiline product and a strong Amazon listing can still win the plain search. It would be up against four listings that already hold most of the sales, and against more brands now that Croda is marketing the ingredient to them. The clearest open position is the GLP-1 shopper, whom none of the leaders addresses, as long as the listing stays within what Amazon allows a product page to say about prescription drugs.

For investors. The demand is large, and so far it is going to Korean brands and an Estée Lauder line. In Satin Leaf's view, the open question for a US brand is whether Volufiline becomes a range or stays one hero product, and GLP-1 use gives that range a reason to exist beyond a TikTok cycle. Plumping claims also sit close to regulatory lines, and Satin Leaf expects closer scrutiny of listings if growth continues.

Questions

What is Volufiline?

Volufiline is a plant-based ingredient made by Sederma, part of the British specialty ingredients company Croda, and sold to skincare brands. It has been on the market for more than a decade. In 2026 Croda repositioned it for loss of volume in the face, and brands use it in balms, sticks and serums.

Who makes Volufiline?

Is Volufiline linked to GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic?

Croda, which makes Volufiline, links the rise in interest in facial volume partly to GLP-1 weight-loss drugs, and about one in eight US adults said they were taking one in a late-2025 KFF poll. On Amazon, few shoppers mention GLP-1 when they search. They search for the ingredient itself, and none of the leading Volufiline listings mention GLP-1.

How fast is Volufiline growing on Amazon?

Amazon US searches containing Volufiline averaged about 580,000 a month in September 2026, up from about 176,000 in October 2025. Searches that name a brand grew about ten times over the same period, from about 17,000 a month to 174,000.

Which brands sell the most Volufiline products?

On Amazon, Sungboon Editor (about 21%), d'Alba (16%), The Ordinary (16%) and Medicube (10%) took about 62% of roughly $2.3 million in sales of products naming Volufiline in the 30 days to early October 2026. On TikTok Shop, Medicube ($6.1 million), Sungboon Editor ($2.2 million), The Ordinary ($1.5 million) and VT Cosmetics ($1.4 million) held 96% of about $11.8 million in sales between May 2025 and April 2026.
